江夏王道宗以事請節，節以聞，太宗喜，賚絹二百，勞之曰：「朕比不置左右僕射，正以公在省耳。」 Prince Daozong of Jiangxia sought Jie's help in a matter; Jie reported it to the throne, and Emperor Taizong was pleased. He bestowed two hundred bolts of silk and comforted him, saying, "Of late I have not appointed left and right vice directors precisely because you are still in office."
