英宗即位，輔臣請與皇太后權同聽政。 When Yingzong acceded, the chief ministers asked that he and the Empress Dowager jointly hold provisional authority to govern.

禮院議：自四月內東門小殿垂簾，兩府合班起居，以次奏事，非時召學士亦許至小殿。 The Ritual Academy decided: from the fourth month court would be held behind the curtain at the small hall of the Inner Eastern Gate; the Two Departments would salute in a combined formation, report business in turn, and when summoned at irregular hours academicians were also permitted to attend the small hall.

時帝以疾權居柔儀殿東閣西室，太后垂簾處分稱“吾”，唯兩府日入候問聖體，因奏政事，退詣小殿簾外，覆奏太后。 At the time the emperor, ill, temporarily resided in the western chamber of the eastern pavilion of Rouyi Hall; the empress dowager issued dispositions from behind the curtain using wu ("I"); only the Two Departments entered daily to inquire after his health and report government affairs, then withdrew to outside the small hall's curtain and reported again to the empress dowager.
