紹興初，年十七，淮寇號“一窠蜂”倏破縣，女歎曰：“父子無俱生理，我計決矣。” At the beginning of Shaoxing, when she was seventeen, Huai bandits calling themselves 'One Nest of Bees' suddenly overran the county. The girl sighed: 'Father and son cannot both survive—I have made my decision.'

頃之賊至，欲殺其父兄，女趨而前拜曰：“妾雖窶陋，願執巾帚以事將軍，贖父兄命。 Soon the bandits arrived, intending to kill her father and elder brother. The girl hurried forward and bowed: 'Though I am plain, I am willing to serve you as handmaid and ransom my father and brother's lives.

不然，父子併命，無益也。” Otherwise they will both die—to no purpose.'

賊釋父兄縛，女麾手使亟去：“無顧我，我得侍將軍，何所憾哉。” The bandits released her father and brother. She waved them away: 'Flee quickly—do not look back. Now that I may serve you, what regret have I?'
