高祖初，蠕蠕部帥旡盧真率三萬騎入塞圍鎮，多侯擊之走，以功進號征西大將軍。 At Gaozu's accession the Rouran chief Jiluzhen led thirty thousand horse into the borders to besiege the garrison; Duohou struck and drove them off, and merit raised him to grand general who campaigns west.

高祖善其計，以東作方興，難之。 Gaozu approved the plan, but with eastern works then rising, could not carry it out.
