五年，偕提督郭松林剿捻德安，戰羅家集，中伏，歿於陣，依提督例賜卹，予騎都尉世職。 In the fifth year he joined Provincial Commander Guo Songlin against the Nian at De’an; at Luojiaji he walked into an ambush and died on the field; the court mourned him at provincial-commander rank and granted a hereditary Cavalry Commandant title.
