疏言：「部將盧光祖、李國英從入京師，餘若張應祥、徐恩盛、郝效忠、金聲桓、常登、徐勇、吳學禮、張應元、徐育賢俱奉英親王調發防剿江西、湖廣。 In a memorial he wrote: "My subordinate commanders Lu Guangzu and Li Guoying accompanied me to the capital. The rest—Zhang Yingxiang, Xu Ensheng, Hao Xiaozhong, Jin Shengheng, Chang Deng, Xu Yong, Wu Xueli, Zhang Yingyuan, and Xu Yuxian among them—have all been assigned by Prince Ying to garrison and suppress rebellion in Jiangxi and Huguang.

郝效忠，遼東人，隸漢軍正白旗。 Hao Xiaozhong, a native of Liaodong, served in the Plain White Banner of the Han Army.

孫可望陷沅州，效忠率師克黎平。 When Sun Kewang seized Yuanzhou, Xiaozhong led his troops and recovered Liping.

可望兵驟至，力戰，馬蹶被執，不屈，遂見殺，贈都督同知。 Kewang's army arrived suddenly. Xiaozhong fought hard until his horse stumbled and he was taken captive. He refused to yield and was put to death. He was posthumously granted the rank of Vice Commander-in-Chief.
