太后取其弟紀氏女為厲王后。 The Empress Dowager chose a daughter from her younger brother's family in the Ji clan to be King Li's queen.

王不愛紀氏女。 But the King did not love the Ji woman.

太后欲其家重寵，令其長女紀翁主入王宮，正其後宮，毋令得近王，欲令愛紀氏女。 The Empress Dowager wished to secure her family's favor, so she sent her eldest daughter, Princess Ji, into the royal palace to take charge of the harem. She barred other women from approaching the King so that he might come to love the Ji queen.
