劉道產，彭城呂人，太尉諮議參軍簡之子也。 Liu Daochan, a native of Lu in Pengcheng, was the son of Jian, consulting aide to the Grand Marshal.

簡之事在弟子康祖傳。 Jian's career is told in the biography of his younger brother Kangzu.

高祖版為中軍行參軍，又為道憐驃騎參軍，襲父爵晉安縣五等侯。 The Founding Emperor made him acting aide on the central army staff and then aide on Daolian's Flying Cavalry staff; he inherited his father's fifth-rank marquisate of Jin'an County.
