時都監蔣元暉謂諸將曰：「吾王命我護軍，志在攻取，今燕帥來赴，不可外戰，當縱其入壁，聚食囷廩，力屈糧盡，必可取也。」 Overseer Jiang Yuanhui told the generals, "Our prince ordered me to protect the army with intent to attack and take. Now the Yan commander comes to the rescue—we cannot fight outside. We should let them enter the walls, gather and eat from the granaries, and when strength is spent and grain exhausted they can surely be taken."
