及晉祖肇位，司天監馬重績始造新曆，奉表上之，云：「臣聞為國者，正一氣之元，宣萬邦之命，爰資曆以立章程。 When the Jin founder ascended the throne, Ma Chongji of the Directorate of Astronomy devised a new calendar and presented a memorial, writing: "I have heard that to rule a state is to fix the origin of cosmic breath and proclaim the mandate of all peoples—and for this one must rely on the calendar to set the standards of government.

晉高祖命司天少監趙仁锜、張文皓，秋官正徐皓，天文參謀趙延乂、杜升、杜崇龜等，以新曆與《宣明》、《崇元》考核得失。 Jin Gaozu ordered Vice Directors Zhao Renqi and Zhang Wenhao of the Astronomy Bureau, Xu Hao of the Autumn Office, and astronomical advisers Zhao Yanyi, Du Sheng, and Du Chonggui to compare the new calendar against Xuanming and Chongyuan and judge its merits.

晉天福初，高祖將建義於太原，城中數處井泉暴溢。 At the beginning of the Tianfu era of Later Jin, as the High Ancestor was preparing to raise his banner at Taiyuan, wells and springs in several parts of the city suddenly burst forth.

梁開平三年春正月，潞州軍前李思安奏，壺關縣庶穰鄉村人因伐樹倒，自分為兩片，內有六字，皆如左書，曰「天十四載石進」，乃圖其狀以進。 In the first month of spring of the third year of Kaiping of Later Liang, Li Si'an at the Lu Prefecture front memorialized that villagers of Shurang Township in Huguan County, while felling a tree, saw it fall and split in two; inside were six characters in clerical script reading "Heaven, the fourteenth year, Shi Jin." He painted its form and submitted the report.

梁祖異之，命示百官，莫有詳其義者，及晉高祖即位，人以為雖有圖姓，計其甲子則二十有九年矣。 The Liang Founder regarded it as strange and ordered it shown to the hundred officials, but none could explain its meaning. When the Later Jin High Ancestor took the throne, people reckoned that although the diagram bore a surname, counting by the sexagenary cycle it had been twenty-nine years.
