七年，赴江西按巡撫張誠基被劾事，未定讞，兩廣總督吉慶以剿會匪被譴自戕，命往鞫。 In the seventh year he went to Jiangxi to investigate the impeachment of Governor Zhang Chengji, the case still undecided; when Liangguang Governor-General Jiqing, censured for suppressing secret-society bandits, committed suicide, Na Yancheng was ordered to conduct the inquest.
