又明年，為中統元年，世祖即位，阿里不哥反，遣使召主將渾都海。 Another year passed—the first year of the Zhongtong reign. Kublai ascended the throne, Ariq Böke rose in revolt, and dispatched envoys to summon the commander Hunduhai.

鑄說渾都海等入朝，皆不從，則棄其妻子，挺身來歸。 Zhu urged Hunduhai and his officers to present themselves at court, but they refused. He then left his wife and children behind and came alone to Kublai's side.

渾都海怒，詬曰：「我焉得知之，其父今亡命東見皇帝矣！」 Hunduhai flew into a rage and shouted, "How should I know? His father has already fled east to pay court to the emperor!"

既而阿藍答兒、渾都海為大兵所殺，其殘卒北走，眾推哈剌不花為帥。 Before long Alamdar and Hunduhai were killed by Kublai's main forces. The survivors fled north and chose Hala Buqa as their leader.

會宗王阿魯忽至，誅阿里不哥所用鎮守之人唆羅海，欲附世祖。 Prince Alughu then arrived, executed Suoluohai, Ariq Böke's garrison commander, and declared his intent to join Kublai.

先是，鑄嘗言於世祖：「臣之妻子皆在北邊。」 Earlier Zhu had told Kublai, "My wife and children are all still in the north."
