五代時，李景據江南，潛結契丹，歲遣單使往復。 During the Five Dynasties, Li Jing held sway over the lands south of the Yangtze. He secretly allied himself with the Khitan and each year dispatched lone envoys to and fro.

霸將契丹之命，以乾從行使景。 Ba was entrusted with the Khitan mission and brought Qian along as his attendant on the embassy to Li Jing.
