李仲義妻劉氏，名翠哥，房山人。 Li Zhongyi's wife Lady Liu, whose given name was Cuige, came from Fangshan.

至正二十年，縣大饑，平章劉哈剌不花兵乏食，執仲義欲烹之。 In Zhizheng 20, the county was stricken by famine. The troops of Pingzhang Liu Hala Buhua had no food, so they seized Zhongyi and meant to boil him alive.

仲義弟馬兒走報劉氏，劉氏遽往救之，涕泣伏地，告於兵曰：「所執者是吾夫也，乞矜憐之，貸其生，吾家有醬一甕、米一斗五升，窖於地中，可掘取之，以代吾夫。」 Zhongyi's younger brother Ma'er ran to tell Lady Liu. She rushed at once to save him, weeping as she fell prostrate before the soldiers. "The man you have seized is my husband," she pleaded. "Have mercy and spare his life. We have a jar of sauce and one dou and five sheng of rice buried in the ground. Dig them up and take them instead of my husband."

兵不從，劉氏曰：「吾夫瘦小，不可食。 The soldiers refused. Lady Liu said, "My husband is thin and small. He is not fit to eat.

兵遂釋其夫而烹劉氏。 The soldiers released her husband and boiled Lady Liu instead.
