至十八年林清逆黨之變，上思其言，特賜祭焉。 By 1813, when Lin Qing's rebels struck, the emperor recalled his words and specially granted sacrificial rites in his honor.

林清逆黨突入禁城，時回鑾，中途聞變，有議俟調大兵成列而後進者，誥曰：「是滋亂也，獻俘者行至矣！」 Lin Qing's rebels suddenly entered the Forbidden City; the court was returning from Rehe and heard of the disturbance en route; some proposed waiting until large forces were assembled before advancing—Gao said, "That would only encourage disorder; the captors are already on their way!"

林清既誅，滑縣逆匪尋平，論功，迭被優敘，賜子淳為郎中。 After Lin Qing was executed, the Hua County rebels were soon pacified; in accounting merit Gao received repeated preferential commendation, and his son Chun was given a directorship in a ministry.

及林清之變，獨持鎮定，尤為時稱雲。 At Lin Qing's disturbance he alone kept his composure, which contemporaries especially praised.

林清之變，召對，極言內監通賊有據，因窮治逆黨，內監多銜恨，遍騰謗言。 During the Lin Qing uprising he was summoned to audience and argued forcefully that eunuchs had aided the rebels. His thorough pursuit of the conspiracy earned the hatred of many eunuchs, who spread slander against him far and wide.

十八年，教匪林清逆黨闌入禁城，桂芳方直內廷，偕諸王大臣率兵殲捕，敘勞，加二級。 In 1813 Lin Qing's rebel sect broke into the Forbidden City while Guifang was on duty in the inner court. He joined princes and grand ministers in leading troops to crush the intruders and was rewarded with two steps of promotion.

He submitted a memorial outlining ten measures and rushed to the capital. Emperor Renzong praised him, saying, "The items you raised are already being implemented, one after another."
