曾祖武，劉聰世以宗室封樓煩公，拜安北將軍、監鮮卑諸軍事、丁零中郎將，雄據肆盧川。 His great-grandfather Wu, in Liu Cong's day, received the title Duke of Loufan as a member of the imperial house and held the posts of General Who Pacifies the North, overseer of Xianbei military affairs, and Central Commandant of the Dingling, ruling the Silu River country as a regional power.
