劉繼勛，衛州人也。
Liu Jixun was a native of Weizhou.
唐天成中，高祖鎮鄴都，繼勛時為客將，高祖愛其端謹，籍其名於帳下，從歷數鎮。
During Tang's Tiancheng era, when Gaozu governed Yedu, Jixun served as a guest officer. Gaozu admired his steady, careful manner, kept him on his staff register, and took him through several provincial postings.
及即位，擢為閣門使，出為淄州刺史，遷澶州防禦使，俄改鄭州，自宣徽北院使拜華州刺史。
After Gaozu took the throne, Jixun was made gate commissioner, then prefect of Zi, defense commissioner of Chan, and soon of Zheng; from commissioner of the northern palace secretariat bureau he was appointed prefect of Hua.
始少帝與契丹絕好，繼勛亦預其謀，及契丹主至闕，繼勛自鎮來朝，契丹責之。
When the young emperor broke with the Khitans, Jixun had helped plan it. When the Khitan ruler reached the capital, Jixun came from his post to court, and the Khitans rebuked him.
時馮道在側，繼勛事急，指道曰：「少帝在鄴，道為首相，與景延廣謀議，遂致南北失歡。
