會總兵成大吉等攻黃州數月不下，詔降賊目劉維楨，复蘄州，選出眾五百人為忠義營，使維楨詐稱援軍，誘城賊出，擊之，遂克黃州，以道員記名，加布政使銜。 Brigadier Cheng Daji had besieged Huangzhou for months without success; the court accepted the defection of rebel leader Liu Weizhen; Qizhou was recovered; Ningxue formed a Loyalty Battalion of five hundred picked men and had Weizhen pose as reinforcements to draw the garrison out; Huangzhou then fell; he was entered on the list for circuit commissioner and granted the brevet rank of provincial administration commissioner.
