凡藩侯郡牧,自外入者,必先賂延朗,後議進貢,賂厚者先居內地,賂薄者晚出邊藩,故諸將屢有怨訕,末帝不能察之。 Whenever frontier lords and prefects came in from outside, they had first to bribe Yanlang and only afterward discuss advancing tribute; those who bribed heavily were first placed in inner territories, those who bribed lightly were sent out late to border commands—therefore the generals often had resentful complaints, which the Last Emperor could not perceive.
