其論學大指，謂硃子道問學，陸九淵尊德性，不可偏廢，上聞而韙之。 His general view in scholarship was that Zhu Xi emphasized the Way of inquiry and study while Lu Jiuyuan honored moral nature, and neither could be abandoned in favor of the other. When the emperor heard this he approved.
