既而饗宴，乘高遠矚，顧謂其尚書魯邃曰：「齊、魯固多君子，當昔全盛之時，接、慎、巴生、淳于、鄒、田之徒，廕修簷，臨清沼，馳硃輪，佩長劍，恣非馬之雄辭，奮談天之逸辯，指麾則紅紫成章，俯仰則丘陵生韻，至於今日，荒草頹墳，氣消煙滅，永言千載，能不依然！」
Presently he feasted, rode high and looked far, and said to his minister Lu Sui, 'Qi and Lu surely had many gentlemen; in their full splendor men like Jie, Shen, Ba Sheng, Chunyu, Zou, and Tian sheltered under broad eaves, leaned on clear pools, raced vermillion wheels, wore long swords, vented heroic rhetoric, raised heaven-storming debate, gestured and purple and red formed patterns, bowed and hills and mounds took rhythm; down to today wild grass and ruined tombs, breath gone smoke extinguished—speaking of a thousand years, how can one not be moved!'
邃答曰：「武王封比干之墓，漢祖祭信陵之墳，皆留心賢哲，每懷往事。
Sui replied, 'King Wu of Zhou closed Bi Gan's tomb, Han's Gaozu sacrificed at Lord Xinling's grave—both fixed their hearts on worthies and often cherished old deeds.
