When Gaozu of Jin rose in Taiyuan, Emperor Fei marched north. Passing by to pay respects at Huiling, he rested in the guard quarters and turned to Wenji: "I knew you from Fengxiang and did not treat you as an ordinary man. Since you became chancellor, I inquired among public opinion, and all said you could bring about great peace. Today you have brought me to this point; what should you do?"
