錫良飛檄提督馬維騏督兵進剿，並令建昌道趙爾豐率師繼進，遂克巴塘，仍飭爾豐進討里塘。 Xi Liang urgently ordered Provincial Commander Ma Weiqi to lead a punitive campaign and directed Jianchang Intendant Zhao Erfeng to follow with reinforcements. Batang was taken, and Xi Liang then ordered Zhao to press on against Litang.
