初，明珠當國，勢張甚，其黨布中外，乾學不能立異同。
Earlier, when Mingzhu dominated the government, his faction was everywhere and Qianxue had not dared to oppose him openly.
至是，明珠漸失帝眷，而乾學驟拜左都御史，即劾罷江西巡撫安世鼎，諷諸御史風聞言事，臺諫多所彈劾，不避權貴。
