昭明太子敬耆老，襄母年將八十，與蕭琛、傅昭、陸杲每月常遣存問，加賜珍羞衣服。 Crown Prince Zhaoming respected the aged; Xiang's mother was nearing eighty, and together with Xiao Chen, Fu Zhao, and Lu Gao he monthly sent inquiries after her welfare and additionally bestowed delicacies and clothing.

襄母嘗卒患心痛，醫方須三升粟漿，是時冬月，日又逼暮，求索無所。 Xiang's mother once suddenly suffered heart pain; the medical prescription required three sheng of millet gruel. It was then winter, and the day was already nearing dusk; they sought everywhere and found nothing.
