三國窺商利，而俄志在邊地，於是俄使木里裴岳幅至愛琿，堅請畫界，奕山允自額爾古納河口循黑龍江至松花江左岸之地盡屬之俄。 Britain, France, and America were after trade gains, but Russia wanted land. Muraviev came to Aigun and insisted on a boundary line; Yishan conceded everything from the Argun mouth along the Amur to the left bank of the Sungari to Russia.

俄使知奕山昧於地勢，駐兵黑龍江口，复索綏芬河、烏蘇里江地，奕山懾其兵威，勿能抗，疏稱未許，然已告俄使可比照海口等處辦理。 Seeing that Yishan did not know the ground, Muraviev camped troops at the Amur mouth and demanded the Suifen and Ussuri basins as well. Intimidated, Yishan could not refuse outright; he reported that he had not consented, but had already told the Russians it could be treated like the open ports.
