德兄子麟自義台奔鄴，因說德曰：「中山既沒，魏必乘勝攻鄴，雖糧儲素積，而城大難固，且人情沮動，不可以戰。 Murong De’s nephew Murong Lin fled from Yitai to Ye and urged Murong De: “Since Zhongshan has fallen, Wei will surely exploit victory to attack Ye. Though grain has long been stored, the city is large and hard to defend, and people’s hearts are shaken; we cannot fight.

以慕容麟為司空、領尚書令，慕容法為中軍將軍，慕輿拔為尚書左僕射，丁通為尚書右僕射，自余封授各有差。 He named Murong Lin minister of works and chief of the secretariat, Murong Fa central-army general, Yu Ba senior vice-president of the secretariat, Ding Tong junior vice-president, and distributed other posts accordingly.

初，河間有麟見，慕容麟以為已瑞。 Earlier a qilin sighting in Hejian had led Murong Lin to claim it as his personal portent.
