時魏師入中山，慕容寶出奔于薊，慕容詳又僭號。 Meanwhile Wei troops entered Zhongshan, Murong Bao fled toward Ji, and Murong Xiang proclaimed himself at Zhongshan.

於是德之群臣議以慕容詳僭號中山，魏師盛于冀州，未審寶之存亡，因勸德即尊號。 Murong De's officials argued that with Murong Xiang's usurpation at Zhongshan, Wei's power swelling in Ji, and Murong Bao's fate uncertain, Murong De should take the imperial dignity.
