書達成親王，以上聞，上怒其語戇，落職下廷臣會鞫，面諭勿加刑，亮吉感泣引罪，擬大辟，免死遣戍伊犁。 The memorial reached the Prince of Cheng and was reported to the throne. The emperor was angered by its blunt tone, stripped Hong of office, and referred him to a joint inquiry by the court. He personally instructed that no torture be applied. Hong wept, accepted guilt, and was sentenced to decapitation; the death penalty was remitted and he was exiled to Yili.
