兄子昭略謂文季曰：「阿父年六十爲員外僕射，欲求自免，豈可得乎？」 His nephew Zhaolue said to him, "Uncle, at sixty you serve as supernumerary Vice Director—do you think you can simply seek to exempt yourself?"

兄子昭略，有剛氣。 His elder brother's son Zhaolue had a forceful nature.

昇明末，爲相國西曹掾，太祖賞之，及卽位，謂王儉曰：「南士中有沈昭略，何職處之？」 At the end of Shengming he served as Western Bureau Adjutant to the Chancellor of State; the founding emperor admired him, and upon taking the throne said to Wang Jian, "Among southerners there is Shen Zhaolue—what post should he fill?"

南郡王友、學華選，以昭略爲友，尋兼左丞。 As Companion to the Prince of Nanjun and a graduate of the Hua selection, Zhaolue was appointed companion; soon he also served concurrently as Left Assistant Director.

昭略建武世嘗酣酒以自晦，與謝善。 During the Jianwu era Zhaolue would drink heavily to conceal himself, and was on good terms with Xie.

永元元年，始安王遙光起兵東府，執昭略於城內。 In the first year of Yongyuan Prince Yaoguang of Shi'an raised troops at the Eastern Palace and seized Zhaolue inside the city.

昭略潛自南出，濟淮還臺。 Zhaolue secretly went out from the south, crossed the Huai, and returned to the Secretariat.

茹法珍等進藥酒，昭略怒罵徐孝嗣曰：「廢昏立明，古今令典。 Ru Fazhen and others brought poisoned wine; Zhaolue angrily cursed Xu Xiaosi, saying, "Deposing the benighted and installing the enlightened is a worthy model of past and present.

中興元年，贈昭略太常，昭光廷尉。 In the first year of the Zhongxing era Zhaolue was posthumously made Grand Minister of Ceremonies and Zhaoguang Director of Justice.
