代軾為翰林學士，尋權吏部尚書。 He succeeded Shi as Hanlin Academician and soon acted as Personnel Minister.

使契丹，館客者侍讀學士王師儒能誦洵、軾之文及轍《茯苓賦》，恨不得見全集。 On mission to Khitan, his host Wang Shiru, Attendant Reader Academician, could recite Xun's and Shi's works and Zhe's "Fu on Poria," and lamented he could not see their full collected writings.
