其後四歲，白公勝與石乞襲殺楚令尹子西、司馬子綦於朝。 Four years later, Duke Bai Sheng and Shi Qi made a surprise attack at court and killed Chu's prime minister Zixi and commander Ziqi.

石乞曰：「不殺王，不可。」 Shi Qi said: 'Unless we kill the king, this cannot succeed.'

石乞從者屈固負楚惠王亡走昭夫人之宮。 Shi Qi's follower Qu Gu carried King Hui of Chu on his back and fled to Lady Zhao's palace.

而虜石乞，而問白公尸處，不言將亨。 They captured Shi Qi and questioned him about where Duke Bai's corpse was hidden, threatening to boil him if he would not speak.

石乞曰：「事成為卿，不成而亨，固其職也。」 Shi Qi said: 'If the affair had succeeded, I would have become a minister. Since it failed, and I am to be boiled, that too is part of my office.'

遂亨石乞，而求惠王復立之。 They then boiled Shi Qi and sought out King Hui to restore him to the throne.
