年十二，嘗游京師，值天子出遊南苑，邑裏喧嘩，老幼爭觀，愛獨端坐讀書，手不釋卷，宗族見者，莫不異焉。 At twelve he was in the capital when the Son of Heaven went to the Southern Park; the streets roared as old and young competed to watch. Ai alone sat upright reading and never put down his scroll, and all his kinsmen who saw him marveled at him.
