繼元立，太祖遣李繼勳等討之，仍詔許繼元以青州節度、無為邢州節度，無為得詔色動。 When Jiyuan took the throne, Taizu sent Li Jixun and others against him and also issued an edict promising Jiyuan the Qingzhou command and Wuwei the Xingzhou command. When Wuwei received the edict his face changed.

及太祖親征，長圍既合，無為請自將兵夜出擊圍，欲自拔來歸，值天陰晦而止。 When Taizu campaigned in person and the long siege closed in, Wuwei asked to lead a night sortie against the encirclement, intending to break out and defect. Dark weather made him abandon the plan.

會太祖壅汾水浸城，城中人情大懼，繼元乃殺無為以徇。 When Taizu dammed the Fen River and flooded the city, terror spread through the garrison. Jiyuan then executed Wuwei and displayed his body as a warning.
