太宗天會二年，曷懶移鹿古水霖雨害稼，且為蝗所食。 Taizong, second year of Tianhui, at Yilanyilugu River—incessant rain harmed the crops, and locusts devoured them besides.

九年七月丙申，上禦西樓聽政，聞咸州所貢白鵲音忽異常，上起視之，見東樓上光明中有像巍然高五丈許，下有紅雲承之，若世所謂佛者，乃擎跽修虔，久之而沒。 Ninth year, seventh month, bingshen—the sovereign held court on the west tower and heard the white magpie presented from Xianzhou cry oddly; he rose to look and saw on the east tower, within a blaze of light, a figure towering some five zhang, red cloud beneath bearing it up like the Buddha the world knows—he raised his joined hands in reverence until it vanished.
