祖什古乃從太祖平遼，以功授上京世襲猛安，曆東京留守。 His grandfather Shigunai followed Taizu in the conquest of Liao and, for his service, received the hereditary meng'an of Shangjing; he later served as Garrison Commander of the Eastern Capital.
