楚材辨論不已，因大聲曰：「老臣事太祖、太宗三十餘年，無負于國，皇后亦豈能無罪殺臣也！」 Chucai would not stop arguing and cried out, "I served Taizu and Taizong for more than thirty years without failing the state—the empress cannot kill me without cause!"

太祖賜畜馬四百匹，使為宿衛官必阇赤。 Taizu granted him four hundred horses and appointed him a palace guard, a beküchi.

因諫曰：「臣聞天子以天下為憂，憂之未有不治，忘憂未有能治者也。 He remonstrated, "I have heard that a ruler who worries for the realm never fails to govern it, and one who forgets that worry never succeeds.

帝深嘉納之。 The emperor greatly approved and accepted his counsel.
