侂胄忌汝愚益深，謂不重貶，人言不已。 Tuozhou resented Ruyu all the more, saying that without a heavier demotion public talk would not cease.

汝愚怡然就道，謂諸子曰：「觀侂胄之意，必欲殺我，我死，汝曹尚可免也。」 Ruyu set out calmly on his journey and told his sons, "Seeing Tuozhou's intent, he surely means to kill me. If I die, you may still be spared."

侂胄誅，盡復元官，賜諡「忠定」，贈太師，追封沂國公。 When Tuozhou was executed, all Ruyu's offices were restored. He was given the posthumous name "Loyal and Settled," made Grand Preceptor, and enfeoffed as Duke of Yi.
