Wang Luoer, Che Lutou, Lu Luyuan, Chen Jian, and Wan Anguo
王洛兒，京兆人也。
Wang Luoer came from Jingzhao.
太宗在東宮，給事帳下，侍從遊獵，夙夜無怠。
While Emperor Taizong was still heir in the Eastern Palace, Luoer served in his personal staff, accompanying him on the hunt by day and night without slackening.
太宗嘗獵于灅南，乘冰而濟，冰陷沒馬，洛兒投水，奉太宗出岸。
Once when Emperor Taizong was hunting at Shuainan and crossed a river on the ice, the ice broke and his horse went under; Luoer plunged into the water and brought the emperor safely to shore.
水沒洛兒，殆將凍死，太宗解衣以賜之。
The water closed over Luoer and he was nearly frozen to death; the emperor stripped off his own garment and gave it to him.
天賜末，太宗出居于外，洛兒晨夜侍衞，無須臾違離，恭勤發於至誠。
Near the end of the Tiansi reign, when Emperor Taizong was forced to live outside the palace, Luoer guarded him morning and night without leaving his side for an instant, his reverent service springing from the deepest loyalty.
元紹之逆，太宗左右唯洛兒與車路頭而已。

When Emperor Taizong returned to the palace and the realm was restored to order, Luoer had earned a share of the credit.
太宗即位，拜散騎常侍。
After Emperor Taizong acceded to the throne, Luoer was appointed Regular Attendant.
散騎常侍王洛兒、車路頭等，服勤左右，十有餘年，忠謹恭肅，久而彌至，未嘗須臾之頃，有廢替之心。

When times grew hard, others readily changed their allegiance, yet Luoer and his companions held to their charge without wavering, their steadfast loyalty surpassing mere duty.
其賜洛兒爵新息公，加直意將軍。」
Let Luoer be enfeoffed as Duke of Xinxin and appointed General of Straight Intent."
贈太尉、建平王，賜溫明祕器，載以轀輬車，使殿中衞士為之導從。
He was posthumously honored as Grand Commandant and Prince of Jianping, granted the lacquered coffin fittings of state, borne in the imperial hearse, with guards of the palace hall as his escort.
乃鴆其妻周氏，與洛兒合葬。
He then had Luoer's wife, Lady Zhou, compelled to take poison and buried her with him in a joint grave.
後定州弟升為侍御中散，有寵於顯祖，以祖父洛兒著勳先朝，詔復定州爵為公。
Later Dingzhou's younger brother Sheng became an attendant in the imperial escort and won favor with Emperor Xianzu; because their grandfather Luoer had earned distinction under the previous reign, an edict restored Dingzhou's rank to duke.
史臣曰：王洛兒、車路頭、盧魯元、陳建，咸以誠至發衷，竭節危難，苟非志烈過人，亦何能以若此！
The historian writes: Wang Luoer, Che Lutou, Lu Luyuan, and Chen Jian all acted from sincere devotion of heart and gave their utmost loyalty in times of peril; had they not possessed resolution surpassing ordinary men, how could they have done as they did!
