舊拜三公乃臨軒，至是帝特詔與陳顯達、王晏竝臨軒拜授。 Formerly investiture as one of the Three Excellencies alone warranted approaching the imperial steps; on this occasion the emperor specially ordered that he, Chen Xianda, and Wang Yan together receive investiture before the imperial steps.

時王晏爲令，民情物望，不及孝嗣也。 At that time Wang Yan was chief minister, yet in popular esteem he did not match Xiaosi.

晏誅，轉尚書令，領本州中正，餘悉如故。 When Yan was executed, Xiaosi was transferred to Director of the Secretariat and retained his post as nativist zhongzheng for his home province; all other appointments remained unchanged.
