帝乃按圖定策，遣許州節度使王彥超、曹州節度使韓通等領兵他徙，築壘於李晏口，以兵戍守，功未畢，契丹眾尋至，彥超等擊退之。 The Emperor studied the maps and sent Xuzhou commissioner Wang Yanchao, Caozhou commissioner Han Tong, and others to relocate troops and build fortresses at Liyankou. Before the work was finished Khitan forces arrived; Yanchao and his colleagues repulsed them.

太祖拜王彥超徐州節度使，下詔諭庭美等許以刺史，並詔赟赦庭美等。 Guo Wei made Wang Yanchao military governor of Xuzhou, promised Tingmei and the others prefectural posts, and issued pardons for them in Yun’s name.

廣順元年三月，彥超克徐州，庭美等皆見殺。 In the third month of Guangshun 1, Yanchao took Xuzhou and killed them.

Each had a father living in Luoyang who kept company with Shouli day and night and did as they pleased. The people of Luoyang mostly feared and avoided them, calling them the "Ten Foster Fathers."
