《會稽典錄》曰：策功曹魏騰，以迕意見譴，將殺之，士大夫憂恐，計無所出。 The Kuaiji dian lu says Sun Ce's merit clerk Wei Teng gave offense and was condemned to death; the gentry were terrified and could see no way out.

魏功曹在公盡規，汝今日殺之，則明日人皆叛汝。 Merit clerk Wei has served you faithfully with honest counsel. Kill him today and tomorrow every man will turn against you.

策大驚，遽釋騰。 Sun Ce was shaken and released Wei Teng at once.
