漳州遣使臣謝大作持省符示登，登讀畢，即投大作上馬，大作曰：「少入告家人，無害也。」 Zhangzhou sent envoy Xie Dazuo with provincial documents for Deng. When Deng finished reading, he immediately mounted Dazuo's horse. Dazuo said, "Go in briefly to tell your family—it will do no harm."

大作愕然。 Dazuo was startled.

大作感登忠義，為泣下，奮劍叱巡檢曰：「省符在我手中，無它語也。 Dazuo was moved by Deng's loyalty, wept, brandished his sword, and shouted at the patrol officer, "The provincial document is in my hands—there is nothing else to say.
