出帝即位，楊光遠反，召契丹入寇。 When the Deposed Emperor took the throne, Yang Guangyuan rebelled and called in the Khitan to invade.

徙領泰寧軍節度使，以兵二萬討之。 He was transferred to the Taining military governorship and marched against Guangyuan with twenty thousand troops.

光遠降，其故吏宋顏悉取光遠寶貨、名姬、善馬獻之守貞，守貞德之，陰置顏麾下。 When Guangyuan surrendered, his former clerk Song Yan took all Guangyuan's treasures, famous concubines, and fine horses and presented them to Shouzhen. Shouzhen was grateful and secretly placed Yan in his command.

而光遠黨與十餘人皆亡命，捕之甚急，樞密使桑維翰緩其制書，久而不下。 But more than ten of Guangyuan's associates were fugitives and were hunted urgently. Chief councilor Sang Weihan delayed the drafting edict, and for a long time it was not issued.

守貞以功拜同平章事，賜以光遠舊第，守貞取旁官民舍大治之，為京師之甲。 For his merit Shouzhen was made co-equal with the chief ministers and given Guangyuan's old residence. Shouzhen seized neighboring official and private houses and rebuilt on a grand scale, making it the finest in the capital.
