光緒二十年，日本犯朝鮮，葉志超統軍往援，扼守公州，聶士成率五營駐成歡驛。 In the twentieth year of Guangxu (1894) Japan invaded Korea; Ye Zhichao marched to its aid and held Gongzhou, while Nie Shicheng stationed five battalions at Chenghuan.
