耶律魯不古，字信寧，太祖從侄也。 Yelu Lubugu, whose courtesy name was Xinning, was a paternal cousin of Emperor Taizu.

初，太祖制契丹國字，魯不古以贊成功，授林牙、監修國史。 When Taizu first devised the Khitan national script, Lubugu helped bring the project to completion and was appointed linya and supervisor of the national history.

會河東節度使石敬瑭為其主所討，遣人求援，魯不古導送於朝，如其請。 When the Hedong military governor Shi Jingtang was attacked by his own ruler and sent envoys to seek help, Lubugu escorted them to court and the plea was granted as requested.

帝親率師往援，魯不古從擊唐將張敬達於太原北，敗之。 The emperor led the army in person to relieve him; Lubugu joined the attack on the Tang general Zhang Jingda north of Taiyuan and routed him.
