年十六，適李伯通，生一子，名易。 At sixteen she married Li Botong and bore a son named Yi.

周氏與易被虜，謂偕行者曰：「人苟愛其生，萬一受辱，不如死也。」 Lady Zhou and Yi were taken captive. She told those traveling with her, "If you value your life, consider that the slightest dishonor is worse than death."

遂攜易而逃，間關至汴，績紝以自給，教易讀書有成。 She fled with Yi, made the arduous journey to Bian, supported herself by spinning, and taught Yi to read until he succeeded in his studies.
