虞嘯父為征東將軍、會稽內史，季恭初求為府司馬，不得。 Yu Xiaofu held the posts of General Who Conquers the East and Interior Governor of Kuaiji. Jigong had earlier sought a post as major on his staff but was turned down.

至即叩扉告嘯父，并令掃拂別齋，即便入郡。 As soon as he arrived he knocked at Xiaofu's gate to announce himself, had a separate lodging cleaned, and entered the commandery administration at once.

嘯父本為桓玄所授，聞玄敗，震懼，開門請罪。 Xiaofu had originally been appointed by Huan Xuan. When he heard of Xuan's defeat he was terrified and opened his gate to plead guilty.
