鄧州刺史元洪，頔誣以贓罪奏聞，朝旨不得已為流端州，命中使監焉。 Di falsely accused Dengzhou prefect Yuan Hong of embezzlement; the court reluctantly exiled him to Duanzhou under escort by a palace envoy.

至隋州棗陽縣，頔命部將領士卒數百人，劫洪至襄州，拘留之。 At Zaoyang in Suizhou, Di sent a subordinate with several hundred troops to abduct Hong to Xiangzhou and hold him there.

頔又表洪其責太重，復降中使景忠信宣旨慰諭。 Di then memorialized that Hong's punishment was too harsh; the court sent palace envoy Jing Zhongxin with an edict of reassurance.

遂除洪吉州長史，然後洪獲赴謫所。 Hong was reassigned as chief clerk of Jizhou, and only then could he proceed to his place of exile.

誣劾鄧州刺史元洪，朝廷重違，為流端州，命中人護送至棗陽。 He framed Dengzhou prefect Yuan Hong; reluctant to defy him, the court exiled Hong to Duanzhou and sent a eunuch to escort him to Zaoyang.

頔遣兵劫洪還，拘之，表責洪太重，改吉州長史，遣使厚諭乃已。 Di sent soldiers to intercept Hong and bring him back, held him captive, and memorialized that Hong's sentence was excessive; Hong was reassigned as chief administrator of Jizhou, and Di sent envoys with rich gifts before he would let the matter drop.
