王沖王通弟勱袁敬兄子樞 Wang Chong; Wang Tong, younger brother Mo; Yuan Jing, nephew Shu

袁敬字子恭，陳郡陽夏人也。 Yuan Jing, styled Zigong, was from Yangxia in Chen commandery.

敬純孝有風格，幼便篤學，老而無倦。 Jing was deeply filial and had real bearing. He loved study from childhood and never wearied of it even in old age.

高祖受禪，敬在廣州，依歐陽頠。 When the Founder took the throne, Jing was in Guangzhou under Ouyang Wei.

及頠卒，其子紇據州，將有異志，敬累諫紇，為陳逆順之理，言甚切至，紇終不從。 After Wei died, his son He held the province and began to think of rebellion. Jing repeatedly remonstrated with him, laying out the case for loyalty to Chen with great urgency, but He refused to listen.

高宗即位，遣章昭達率眾討紇，紇將敗之時，恨不納敬言。 When Emperor Xuan came to the throne, he sent Zhang Zhaoda with an army against He. As defeat closed in, He regretted not having listened to Jing.

至德三年卒，時年七十九，贈左光祿大夫，諡曰靖德。 He died in Zhide year 3, aged seventy-nine. He was posthumously made left grand master of glorious happiness and given the posthumous name Jingde.
